This past January, Mimi celebrated 4 years with Wiley. ''I came to Wiley because my life was a mess. My doctor wanted me around other people with similar issues after an overdose I had. I was very depressed, isolated, had no sense of God and I was not taking care of myself. Here at Wiley, I found what I was looking for. I'm around other Veterans like myself, and I love helping out when I can. Being at a Christian Center means a lot. I love interacting with others and enjoy Flora (a staff member) and the crochet corner, while just relaxing and feeling connected to others."

"I have a lot of Medical problems. It was becoming stressful for my wife of 47 years to care for me and my Parkinson's on a daily basis. I knew that I needed to socialize and interact with others similar to me. Being a 100% combat wounded Veteran, I knew there were other Veterans similar to me at Wiley. That's what really got me. I like the idea of other Vets and a program with nurses that assist me with monitoring my blood pressure and insulin levels three times a day. But the fellowship is what I enjoy most. When I started attending Wiley a year ago, I started playing cards with one fellow and our group has grown to four. And they let me sing music that I composed."

"I came to Wiley because I needed to get out of my house. I pretty much isolated myself at home. My parents would watch their stuff and I would watch my stuff. I've been here 3 months and it's pretty cool. I really enjoy the people here. I like playing Bingo, shooting pool and playing dominoes with my friend Oliver. And I really like talking about sports."

"I started Wiley almost a year ago because my other program was too boring. I needed something more interesting where I didn't have so much idle time. Wiley has really cool activities like the Tuesday Talent Show. I enjoy the staff, clients and activities. I enjoy being the unofficial welcoming committee when visitors tour the building. I love to sing and perform at all functions and talent shows. I try to stay positive and open to new stuff."
